Welcome to Yeori Day | Life With My Senior Shih Tzu 🐾

Hello, and welcome to Yeori Day! 🌿🐶

Let me introduce the little guy at the heart of this blog — Yeoreum, my 10-year-old Shih Tzu.

His name, Yeoreum (여름), means “summer” in Korean. ☀️ I also call him Yeori, a nickname that has naturally become part of our everyday life together.

On July 25, 2017, Yeoreum joined our family. 🏡🤍 At the time, he was estimated to be around six to nine months old.

We don’t know exactly what his life was like before he came to us, but since that summer day, he has been an important part of our family. Over the years, we have shared countless walks, meals, lazy afternoons, and ordinary little moments together.

Now that Yeoreum is a senior dog, I find myself paying much more attention to his dog food, nutrition, daily routine, exercise, grooming, and overall well-being.

And one thing I’ve definitely noticed as he has gotten older is that our visits to the veterinarian have become more frequent, too. 🏥🐶

Things that were once easy to overlook can feel more important with age. Regular checkups and veterinary advice have become a natural part of taking care of Yeoreum.

That journey is what inspired me to start Yeori Day. ✨

🐶 Life With a Senior Shih Tzu

Living with a senior Shih Tzu has taught me that dog care changes as our dogs grow older.

Things that once seemed simple—choosing dog food, preparing treats, planning meals, keeping up with exercise, or creating a comfortable home—can require a little more thought.

I’m constantly learning about senior dog care, dog nutrition, homemade dog food, healthy ingredients, and everyday pet care.

But there is something important I want to make clear.

I am not a veterinarian, veterinary professional, or pet nutritionist.

The information shared on Yeori Day is not professional veterinary or medical advice. 🐾

This blog is based on my own experiences, the things I have researched, the meals I have prepared, the products I have tried, and the lessons I have learned while caring for Yeoreum.

When Yeoreum has a health concern or something feels different, I rely on our veterinarian for professional guidance rather than trying to diagnose or treat him myself.

I hope Yeori Day can simply be a place where I share our real-life experiences and the things I’ve learned along the way. 🤍

🥕 Homemade Dog Food & Nutrition

One of the main topics I’ll be sharing is homemade dog food.

I enjoy preparing meals for Yeoreum and exploring different ingredients while paying attention to his individual needs.

Here, I’ll share more than just recipes.

I’ll talk about the ingredients I choose, how I prepare them, how I store homemade dog food, and how Yeoreum responds to different meals.

Some recipes work wonderfully.

Others require a little adjustment. 😄

Rather than presenting my recipes as the “right” answer for every dog, I’ll share them as our personal experience with homemade dog food.

Every dog is different, and factors such as age, health, allergies, activity level, and individual dietary needs can vary.

For that reason, I believe professional veterinary advice is important when making significant changes to a dog’s diet.

🩺 Growing Older Together

One of the biggest changes I’ve noticed over the years is how much more closely I pay attention to Yeoreum’s everyday condition.

As he has gotten older, our visits to the vet have naturally become more frequent.

Regular checkups have become an important part of our routine, and they have also taught me how valuable it is to notice small changes in a senior dog’s everyday behavior.

Sometimes it’s a change in appetite.

Sometimes it’s a difference in energy.

Sometimes it’s simply something that makes me think, “Is this normal?” 🤔

Those are the moments when I’ve learned that guessing at home isn’t always the best approach. Asking our veterinarian and getting professional guidance gives me much more peace of mind.

I’ll share some of these experiences on Yeori Day—not as medical advice, but as part of our journey of growing older together. 🐶🤍

Hopefully, these everyday experiences will give other pet parents something useful to think about when caring for their own dogs.

🏡 More Than Just a Dog Blog

Although Yeoreum is at the center of this blog, Yeori Day is also about everyday life.

Along with senior dog care and homemade dog food, I’ll gradually share our home, plants, simple meals, useful products, and other small parts of daily life. 🪴☕️

Sometimes our day might revolve around preparing Yeoreum’s dinner.

Sometimes it might be a new plant by the window. 🌱

And sometimes, nothing special happens at all.

Just another ordinary day together. 🐶🤍

But after spending so many years with Yeoreum, I’ve come to appreciate those ordinary moments more than ever.

☀️ Our Story Continues

Yeoreum came into our family on a summer day in 2016.

More than ten years later, he is still teaching me about patience, responsibility, and the simple joy of sharing everyday life with a dog.

Yeori Day is my way of keeping those memories while sharing what I learn along the way.

If you are interested in senior dogs, Shih Tzus, homemade dog food, dog nutrition, pet care, or everyday life with a beloved companion, I hope you’ll enjoy following our story. 🐾

Thank you for visiting Yeori Day.

Here’s to more good meals, comfortable naps, happy walks, regular vet checkups, and many more ordinary days together. ☀️🐶🤍
